Walmart Classic Beauty Box Spring 2016 Review

I'm going to be very upfront. The Walmart Beauty Box is somewhat bi-polar in it's awesomeness. This Spring 2016 box is GREAT! The Winter one? Terrible. However, because the box is only $5 a quarter, it's kinda worth it to stay the course just in case.
The Walmart Beauty Box is primarily a sampling program but they have had some full size products included over the past year since it started. It's available only in the US and their goal is to get you to buy more of what you find in the box at one of their stores. I don't even think I have a WalMart near me but I do occasionally check out their clearance stuff online (like for Christmas).

The Cost: $5/quarterly

What You Get: Deluxe size products and foil samples with the occasional full size goodie.

Roc Multi Correxion Chest Neck and Face Cream- Not that you need a special cream for your neck and chest. Technically, you can do to your neck and chest with the same stuff you put on your face. Especially when it comes to sunscreen! With that said, I wish these used the best sunscreen (titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide) because they're the safest and least likely to cause any kind of reaction. This does have an acne trigger in it, as well-- Ethylhexyl Palmitate.

Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Daily Moisturizer and Restorative Night Cream Duo- Apparently blackberry complex makes these ultra awesome. I looked up the ingredients and analyzed them at cosDNA.com. These are nothing special. In fact, they both have an ingredient (different in each) that rolls up a 4/5 on causing acne. So yeah, introduce this into your regimen slowly if you want to see what happens. Or don't. Because there's literally nothing amazing about either of these. Neither one even has retinol or a form of vitamin C stable enough to do any good.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser- I've been interested in trying this for a long time now but other cleansers keep getting in my way. It's a little higher pH (6.5) than I would choose to use long term, though.

Banana Boat Sun Comfort SPF 30- Sunscreen is always a good idea no matter where you live or what you're doing that day. While I prefer titanium or zinc oxide, this sunscreen is just as effective (although, again, if you have sensitive skin, avobenzone might be irritating) and is far better than wearing none at all. Interestingly, the spray version of this sunscreen gets really high marks from Consumer Reports.

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer- I actually ended up really liking this! It's a pretty thin lotion which probably has something to do with it. You're supposed to use it right out of the shower but I didn't. It smells good and sinks in, leaving the skin nice and soft.
Colgate Optic White- I think it's a little funny how fast my toothpaste collection has grown. I now have five! Not all of them proclaim instant whiteness but that's okay. I don't really use toothpaste to whiten my teeth anyway. I use it to clean them, of course.

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick- When this says smooth, it means it! This glides on like buttercream frosting and is somewhat sheer. It's not my favorite color (it's a little on the 80's bubblegum side) but it's sheer enough that anything on over it will easily hide the pink. It's smells good, too, though it has no taste.
There's also always a plethora of foil samples and coupons, too. So that's a bonus.

VERDICT: This box gets an extra boost of love because the last one was so bad. I also think I may have gotten an extra Roc sample but I'm totally okay with that. I am actually pretty excited about the toothpaste plus the travel size sunscreen fits in my clutch and the Jergens Wet Skin is something I'll probably buy a full size of. I dislike body lotions as a whole but I know I need to start using one and this one is very painless (which means it's good for lazy people like me).

If you would like to sign up for the Walmart Beauty Box, you can do that here. The page should tell you if you'll start with Spring or Summer and they ship immediately if the current season is available.

What did you get in your box? I think I'm still getting the "old lady" box because I've seen a couple versions out there.

  1. I just got my shipping notice yesterday so this should arrive in 2-3 days. I too get the "old-lady" / Classic box. Under 35 gets "Trendsetter" although some people who are set up to get both said they got 2 of the exact same box.

Winter was HORRIBLE. So I'm hoping my spring box is as good as yours or ones I've seen on other blogs.

    1. Got my box today. No Aveeno items - instead I got a Curel Rough Skin Rescue and Dove dry oil moisture body wash. Plus only one ROC and less foils. For $5, I'm happy.... Especially compared to the winter box.

    2. Oh, and my Neutrogena lippie is a different color - it's called cute Almond Nude - but I haven't tried it yet.

  2. I found a review of the "young" Trendsetter box for Spring 2016:

And checking the Walmart link, as of today (3/30/16) you will get the Spring box at signing up! I think I'm going to sign p and get the Trendsetter Spring box :)

    1. I'm pretty happy with mine then. Being old paid off!! Although based on what Heather said above there may be another qualification as well? Hm. I'm tempted to sign up for another one and say I'm 21 but if it's not for sure to be a different box it wouldn't really be worth it.
