Treats April 2016 Snack Subscription Box Review and Coupon

Treats is a snack subscription that sends snacks based on a specific country or region each month. Treats Box has two boxes to choose from. This review is for the Premium Box and contains 8-10 snacks a month. The Standard Box has 4-5 snacks in each box. Shipping is free within the US. International shipping is available but an extra charge will apply depending on the country.
This month, the treats are from Brazil! There's always a variety of salty and sweet, which I appreciate since I tend to be a more of a savory snacker than a chocolate one.

The Cost: $13.95/month for Standard, $25.95/month for Premium

What You Get: Either 4-8 or 8-12 fun treats and snacks from around the world.  Each month's box will feature snacks from a different country in the world.

New Beauty Test Tube April/May 2016 Review and Coupon

New Beauty Test Tube is a beauty box that tends to have a focus on skincare. Technically it's supposed to be sending the latest and greatest of the newest beauty products on the market but I can't admit to a whole lot of that experience. While everything tends to be packed in the Tube, there can be products too big to fit, like this month! The tube and any extras arrive in a pink box so you always know to get excited when you see it.
There were ten things in my box this month but three of them are considered bonuses. Way back in the day there used to be a designated little pouch that included all the extras but that has been done away with. I'm always appreciative when I get full size bonuses, I have to admit. Even if they are repeats.
For the actual contents, there's a big, colorful booklet that explains what you've received, all it's benefits and how to use it.

The Cost: $29.95/bi-monthly plus $8.95 shipping

What You Get: An editor curated selection of beauty must-haves six times a year.  You will receive a TestTube filled with 7 or more deluxe and full-size products from popular beauty brands. Also included is a subscription to New Beauty Magazine.

Allure Beauty Box April 2015 Review and $5 Coupon

Of all the low cost beauty boxes out there, the Allure Beauty Box is my favorite. I get brands I like and respect, products I want to use and sometimes (like this month) they send extras! The April 2016 Allure Beauty Box has six items instead of just five. I feel like we've been getting bonus products fairly frequently which has been really nice.

If you're looking for a beauty box, I think Allure is a great choice. Especially if you're older and are looking for good skincare along with quality makeup. I am and I've been very happy with selections this box has sent over the years (yes, years!).

The Cost: $15/month

What You Get: Five deluxe-size beauty samples from a curated mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrance.

Wantable Accessories Collection Review April 2016

Wantable Accessories is part of the Wantable family of subscriptions that include Intimates and Makeup.  The profile system Wantable uses allows you to choose the sort of styles and colors you like and what sizes you need. The great part is that if you receive something you don't like or is too big, etc, you can return it with zero hassle! I've been getting the Accessories box in order to up my Boho style game for a music festival in June. Plus, it's fun!

Not only that but you can change your profile any time you want. So, since I'm really a more Classic jewelry kind of girl, I'll switch all my Boho focused answers back to my true loves (silver, sparkles!). At least I now have a really great supply for my festival, though.

The Cost: $40 for the first month, $36/month thereafter

What You Get: Every box will have four boutique accessories completely tailored to your tastes.  A stylist will choose items for your box based on your answers.

Barkbox Small Dog Box Review April 2016 Plus Free Box Offer

While there are many different subscription boxes for your pets, Barkbox is probably the most prominent. Every month you'll get toys and treats selected especially for your dogs size. It's been one of my favorite boxes for the time it saves me in trips to the pet store and because of the constant entertainment new toys provide for busy dog brains. Plus I always have a great store of treats on hand.

The Cost: $29/month

What You Get: Every month you will receive a box in the mail with four or more carefully selected products and presents for your dog – anything from toys, bones and all-natural treats to hygiene products and innovative new gadgets!

I'm really excited to introduce you to Happy Rebel Box! This is a fun, fashion oriented subscription box that ships quarterly. If you love classic styles with a modern edge, you're going to want to keep your eye on this.

Everything in the box was individually wrapped, which I love. That little detail adds so much to the "gift" feel of the box and makes it all the more special.
Happy Rebel Box also donates 10% off their profits to non-profit organizations. Each season features a different charity. This Spring 2016 box will be helping Room to Read. Room to Read works in collaboration with local communities in low income countries. They operate primarily in Asia and Africa and work hard to develop literacy skills in children and ensure that girls complete secondary school. This is a well-recognized organization with a proven track record and I'm thrilled that Happy Rebel Box is choosing such a life changing operation to donate to. Reading is a huge part of my life and I love to know others enjoy it. I also am glad there's a focus on gender equality in education too.

The Cost: $100/quarterly

Blue Apron Meal Delivery Service Review and Coupon Code

You may already know that I'm a big fan of meal delivery services. Blue Apron is one I hadn't tried before mainly because waaaaay back when I was looking at it, they didn't ship to my area. They've expanded a lot since then and I was excited to try their offerings.

WHAT IS BLUE APRON?

Blue Apron is a meal service that plans three meals for your week and sends all the ingredients necessary to complete each one. Everything from the flour and fresh rosemary to the lemon and chicken breast. The only things you will need are a cooking utensils and possibly olive oil or salt and pepper. And a cooking source, of course. This week, I needed both the stovetop and the oven.

You'll also receive step-by-step instructions with photos so you don't have to guess if you're doing it right. The ingredients are all pre-portioned so you won't even have to dirty a measuring cup. It's a very easy way to make a good dinner.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Each week, you'll receive either three meals for two people or you can choose Family Style and receive 2 or 4 meals for four people.

The Cost: 3 meals for 2 is $59.94, 2 meals for 4 is $69.92, 4 meals for 4 is $139.84

Each meal is $10 per person (less for family plans). This is cheaper by far than eating out whether at a fancy restaurant or even fast food. It's the whole reason I love these so much. Plus they're much healthier and more balanced that something I would usually put together at home. And I love cooking!

If you want fun and interesting snacks, you should look into Something Snacks. It's not all healthy and it's not all international. There's a little bit of everything so you're never bored, I like it because I know there are going to be snacks I'll enjoy in it. Sometimes I don't want crazy snacks with strange ingredients.

With Something Snacks, you'll always find something salty, something sweet, something international and something health conscious.

The Cost: $13/month

What You Get: Each box will contain 7 new and tasty, hand selected snacks.  You can expect something familiar and something more out of the ordinary.

In fact, one of the things I like about My Texas Market is that they include more than food.

The Cost: $35/month plus shipping (It's $44.90 total to WA)

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

I Broke My Phone... A Story of Loss.

The title is a little dramatic, isn't it?

On Saturday, I managed to drop my phone so perfectly that it broke the LCD screen. First there were some green dots and now it's totally black. So annoying! It's my fault for taking off my Otterbox.

I lost a ton of photos, some of which can be retaken and some which are sadly gone forever (mostly food related). It's put a damper on churning out reviews, too. It didn't help that I'd taken a short vacation with friends and had some boxes stacking up while I was gone so I'd been a picture taking fiend right before I dropped it.

I was hoping to get everything done by Friday using my old phone which was dying every three hours and doesn't have a SIM card. Unfortunately, today it just completely stopped working and won't even charge!

My new phone is on backorder and won't ship til the 22nd. You can only imagine the disconnect I feel. No texting!? This is awful!!

Until I figured out Google Hangouts, I was feeling very bereft doing everything via email. I can't WAIT to get my new phone, though. It's a Samsung Galaxy s5 (same as my broken one) and I love it so much that I didn't even upgrade to the s6 (mainly because that one doesn't have an SD card slot which is the best thing ever for storing photos).

So anyhooo, I'm not dead or gone, I'm just phoneless, cameraless and textless. /cry

Honestly, I had no idea how attached I was to my phone until I'm unable to use it! I dropped it perfectly flat onto it's back from about three feet off the ground (the kitchen hardwood). I was NOT expecting it to be broken when I picked it up.

How have you managed to break your phone? This is the first one I've actually annihilated not that hasn't just slowly petered out over time.

Universal Yums April 2016 "Poland" Snack Subscription Review

This month Universal Yums is featuring snacks from Poland. I got the regular size box which is $13 a box. This is an international snack subscription and treats you to snacks from a different country every month. I like it that way because you really get a great (and interesting) variety.

So the good news is I have one photo of the contents. The bad news is that this was a really good box with tasty treats and I only have one photo of the contents. Why? I dropped my cellphone Saturday and broke the LCD screen. I lost all my photos I'd taken for the last two days and since this is a snack box, all the snacks were gone!

The Cost: $13/month

What You Get: The deluxe Yum Yum box contains 13 or more snacks and the regular Yum box contains 6 or more snacks.  Each box will have a mix of salty, sweet, spicy and more to suit every taste and tastebud.

Here's what was inside:

RawSpiceBar March "Afghan" 2016 Spice Subscription Review and 50% Off Coupon Code

RawSpiceBar sends freshly toasted and ground spices along with recipes to your door every month. The nice thing is that they also send recipes to use the spice blends with! I've had so much fun experimenting in the kitchen with the blends I've received. We've eaten all sorts of interesting things that we never would have had otherwise.

This month features spices and blends that feature heavily in Afghan cooking. Everything smells unbelievably delicious. Freshly toasted and ground, redolent with cumin and peppercorn, I'm looking forward to cooking with these!

The Cost: $6.40/month

What You Get: Three spice pouches, which are enough to create 3 individual dishes serving 4-6 people. The total amount of spices will typically weigh between 1-1.5 ounces each month. Plus recipes!

Aster Market April 2016 Subscription Box Review and Coupon Code

Aster Market finds the best of Etsy and sends it to your door. It's a fun subscription that sends anything and everything. It's a subscription I consider a gift to myself. They send surprise small-batch products ranging from home d├ęcor, jewelry, paper goods, bath products and more. It's a fun subscription that also makes an excellent gift for ladies. I like it because it has things you won't find anywhere else.
The Cost: $46.95/month (includes shipping)

What You Get: Each box will include 2 or more full size small-batch goods, ranging from the warmest home decor to the most exquisite paper goods, bath products, jewelry and more. Products will have a total retail value of $50 or more.
Little Low "Bloom" Print- This is a gorgeous print, just my style and perfect colors. I love it. I'm beginning to think I need to start planning a whole wall of all the great prints I've received in subscription boxes over the years. This is by Caitlin McClain and this print is inspired by her grandmother and her love of flowers. It's totally Spring-propriate!
Value: $20
Urban Oreganics Lip Butter- This brand pops up fairly often in subscription boxes and I have enjoyed most of what I've received. The packaging and branding are very nice and the products themselves are of the best quality ingredients. this lip butter is packed with butters and oils and has a fresh citrus scent from the grapefruit, lemon and orange essential oils included. Yum!
Value: $12
Adam Rabbit Quartz Necklace- I have to admit to a little trepidation when I opened this. I'm not too fond of Adam Rabbit and the accompanying style. However, this time I was pleasantly surprised to find a chunk of crystal capped with gold foil and strung on a chain! I love it! Sadly, it broke while I was wearing it the first time. The chain is not of good quality and it snapped when I gently adjusted it. Thankfully, being somewhat of a bead enthusiast, I had tools handy to fix it and it is now wearable again. Yay! I may have to find a better chain for it because I imagine I might experience the same problem again.
Value: $20

VERDICT: Aster Market is a box I consider a splurge. It's fairly expensive and usually contains only 3-4 items but the variety and creativity in product choices tend to win me over fairly frequently. I really enjoyed this box although there is a part of me that wishes something other than a lip balm was chosen. But again, that's just because I'm a subscription box addict. This would make a fantastic gift for someone unsuspecting and is also a very safe gift for a female coworker or boss. It's fun, interesting and unusual and I highly recommend it in that capacity.

If you would like to sign up for Aster Market or send it as a gift, you can do that here. Use coupon code FIRST10 to get 10% off your first box.

What do you think of Aster Market? What are some wonderful things from Etsy that you would love to someday find in a box?

Pipsticks April 2016 Sticker Subscription Review and Coupon Code

Pipsticks is a super fun sticker subscription for both adults and kids. I get the Pro version for adults which means the more stickers and more fun. I really like this subscription because it appeals to the kid in me and because everyone needs a little more sticker in their life.
If you scrapbook or love to decorate your planner, you're going to love this! I like it because you get so many different types and styles of stickers. You get one page of each which I appreciate because sometimes you don't need three pages of the same kind of sticker but you have to buy them all.

This subscription adds a mystery element to your stickers. You won't know what you'll get until you open it up. It also allows me to be more creative than I might have because I get stickers I normally wouldn't buy but now can find a use for. It's so fun!

The Cost: $14.95/month for the Classic, $9.95/month for the Petite.

What You Get: Each Pipsticks sticker subscription pack is full of stickers in all shapes, sizes, colors and textures. In addition to cool stickers, you'll also find some paper goodies like quote cards and post cards (or craft paper in Kids packs) to make good use of your stickers.

Birchbox April 2016 Beauty Box Review and Coupon Code

Birchbox is a beauty sampling subscription that sends about five samples of varying categories to your doorstep every month. It's sort of addicting. In fact, while Fabfitfun was my first subscription box to arrive, it was Birchbox that set me on the downward slope of subscription addiction. And here I am three years later, with Birchbox still landing regularly on my porch.
This month I got seven samples which is pretty sweet. Two are bonuses but I'll still get 50 points when I review the contents of my box. Fifty points means $5 to spend at the Birchbox shop (once it reaches $10- you have to have at least $10 to start spending). I have a ton of things in my shopping cart because Birchbox has everything from beauty and perfume to tech gadgets and home goods. I've been saving up my points to just buy it all at once. Do you realize how hard it is to save points? It is SO hard for me! Once I get $20, I'm like "What can I buy!?" Someone tell me I'm not the only one with issues. Please?

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: Five samples and sometimes full size items, including everything from makeup and skin care to non beauty essentials like candles and tea. Plus a really great points program.

OuiPlease Vol 2.1 "La Vie en Rose" Review and Coupon Code

OuiPlease is a luxury subscription that sends only products from France. It's been around for about a year and has been plagued with shipping issues and extreme value variations. It's one way to get direct-from-France products but there also seems to be a bit of repetition in what is sent.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, I admit. At least for a subscription. For a box or two and even for gifting purposes, it can be great entertainment. I feel like I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the issues this box has in a review, though. So keep in mind that the boxes rarely ship on time (never expect it to arrive when you want it), there are variations that can make one box worth hundreds more than another (although they really are working on changing that), and repetitions occur (not quite exact products but the same brands appear with too much regularity).

The Cost: $150/bi-monthly (except not bi-monthly)

What You Get: A unique selection of full sized French products. In addition to all of the hand-selected gifts, your parcel will include the latest issue of our own “Et Voila” magazine. Explore deliciously simple French recipes, exclusive interviews, style tips, lifestyle pieces, and discover the full range of current products that were distributed across America.

Popsugar Must Have Mini Box Review April 2016

This is the first Popsugar Must Have Mini box that Popsugar has released. It's an interesting concept that I think might need a few tweaks before it catches on for real. In essence it's a much smaller version of the regular Popsugar Must Have box at half the price.
The box promises two items valued at $30. The products included will accompany but not repeat any of the products found in original Must Have box. This is a good thing but I think they need to add one more item to make this a value choice for subscribers.

The Cost: $18.95/month

What You Get: The monthly MINI box will feature two similarly themed full-sized products that will complement the regular monthly Must Have Box. The monthly mini subscription box will include products worth over $30.

The 3B Box April 2016 Review

This subscription is focused on Asian beauty products. 3B stands for Beauty Beyond Borders and the goal is to introduce you to Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese beauty and makeup products. After becoming hooked on Kbeauty via Memebox a few years ago, I've taken steps to improve my skincare routine and also started paying a lot more attention to what's in the stuff I slather on my face. It was a good realization to come to, understanding that a lot of expensive products contain very cheap and often useless ingredients touted to be miracle workers. Thanks to Korean beauty, I learned that a moisturizer does NOT have to be expensive to be effective. In fact, some of the most affordable products do a much better job than name-brand, exorbitantly priced products.

3B is here to offer you a taste of the full skincare regimen than many Asian women adhere to. You'll get samples of all kinds of things, even some you may not have heard of before. It's a lot of fun to experiment and since this subscription is so reasonably priced, it's hard to resist.

The Cost: $12/month

What You Get: 4-5 beauty samples with some full size items from the best and most popular Asian brands.

Covet Crate Lady Boss Subscription Box April 2016 plus Coupon Code

Covet Crate is a fairly new subscription that caters toward professional women. The premise for the box is to empower, motivate and inspire women in their careers and everyday lives.
I am always up for a little inspiration and the fun products included in past boxes inspired me to subscribe (see what I did there?).The goal of the curators is not just to provide style accessories, office decor, beauty products and whatever else they think will be fun but also experiences so there will occasionally be things like discounts for online courses.
The theme this month is "Working on my Fitness" and features a short article about Jackie Joyner-Kersee, one of the most decorated female athletes in Olympic track and field history. She's basically a lady boss. I remember learning about her when I was in school.
The items included in the box this month are designed to complement your fitness routine and encourage you to use them in your everyday life.

The Cost: $84.95/month for the Lady Boss; $49.99/month for the Girl Boss

What You Get:  Items include things such as: office supplies and accessories, stationery, office decor, style accessories, beauty and skincare items, office snacks, books, discounts (on things such as business/life coaching, classes, etc.), and anything else that may empower, motivate, inspire, and encourage you!

Trendy Butler Menswear Subscription Review April 2016 plus $10 Coupon Code

Trendy Butler is a subscription service for men, sending quality mens clothing each month.  You'll receive an array of clothing from both well known brands, and todays newest designers. So far I've been happy with the quality of the clothing and though the same brands seem to pop up regularly, we've been satisfied with the variety.

The goal is to add pieces to your regular wardrobe while expanding your outfit options. Subscribe long enough and you can have a whole closetful of clothing from pants and socks to t-shirts and sweaters. Since everything is chosen for you based on your profile preferences, they should all match your prefered style.

The Cost: $65/month

What You Get: $150 worth of quality clothing (anywhere from one to three items) from brands you know and fashionable up and coming designers.  Choices are made by a stylist based on your profile answers.

My Texas Market March 2016 Review and Coupon Code

My Texas Market is a fun box for those who love all thing Texas, handmade items and enjoy supporting small businesses. These types of boxes have cropped up pretty regularly on the subscription box landscape but My Texas Market is definitely a front runner, in my opinion. I do admit to a little Texan bias because my dad's side of the family is from there and we visit often.

This box is not a food box. There is definitely food products in it but it is not solely about all the Texan food deliciousness. I like that. It's a mixture each month and I appreciate that.

The Cost: $35/month.

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

Loot Crate Firefly Cargo Crate April 2016 Review

When Loot Crate announced a bi-monthly crate dedicated to Firefly, I immediately subscribed. Firefly is a cult-favorite tv series by Joss Whedon. If you are at all geeky, you need to see it. It's sort of a western but in space. It reminds me of Hans Solo and his Millenium Falcon only this time it's Malcolm Reynolds and Serenity (a Firefly class ship).
I watched the movie "Serenity" first and then while hunting for more discovered the TV show. It's kind of hard not to fall in love with everyone on the ship. Or Mal's duster. I want one. Anyhoo, if you like quirky, lovable characters with a little bit of bad ass, this is for you. Also, a very young Christina Hendricks shows up in a few episodes.
This is the first box and it's dedicated to Kaylee.  Kaylee is the ship mechanic. She can fix anything and she's all things adorable and sweet. I feel like she might be the youngest and she's very genuinely concerned about the well-being of everyone on the ship and making sure everyone is getting along.

The Cost: $39.99/bi-monthly

What You Get: A collection of 5-7 Official Firefly Gear & Collectibles, including shiny figures, cunning apparel and other such finery every 2 months. Valued at $65+.
