Glossybox April 2016 Subscription Box Review and Coupon

The Glossybox for April 2016 has some skincare products I’m really interested in trying! Actually, I’ll be keeping and using every single item I received. That doesn’t always happen. I love opening my Glossyboxes because the packaging is so pretty and feels like you’re opening a gift. It’s one thing that Glossybox does right every time- perfect packaging. It makes an excellent gift in that regard, too.

The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Five luxury deluxe sized beauty essentials, from both well-known and emerging brands, delivered to your door each month.

Not Your Mother’s Haircare Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray– I’ve recently become enamoured of texturizing sprays. I have an Oscar Blandi one that I love plus a few other sea salt ones. I not only like the scents they tend to come in but I also love the volume they give my super fine hair. This is a new one for me but I love having a lot of these travel size bottles because I can stick one in each of my handbags and know I’ll always have it when I need it. Whee! This one is infused with kelp as well as dead sea salt. Not sure how that helps my hair but I’m game to try it.
Value: $3

Unani Dermo Defense Face Mask– This is made mainly with Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and glycerin so it’s a moisturizing, soothing face mask. Moisturization is key to glowing, fresh skin and I always recommend it. I am a big fan of aloe for anyone with any kind of skin. With it’s anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it keeps skin happy. This is to be used once or twice a week for ten minutes. Use on clean skin and apply a toner afterwards.
Value: $18

Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Pencil– I thought this was eyeliner at first and was thrilled to see that it was actually for brows. It’s a double ended pencil featuring a creamy, natural defining shade with a natural powder finish and a brightening highlighter on the opposite side. They also donate a portion of their profits to an organization supporting practical services for those struck by the visible side effects of cancer.
Value: $20

Biossance The Nourisher– This is made with Squalane, Pistacia Lentiscus (mastic) Gum (Chios Crystal Oil), Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate(a fat-soluable form of Vitamin C) and Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides. I would be more impressed if it had rosehip oil but you can’t win them all. Squalane is an occlusive emollient which means it creates a barrier over your skin locking in all the moisture. I typically use products with occlusive properties last in my skincare regimen. First I slather on all the moisturizers packed with sodium hyaluronate and peptides and vitamin c and all the other goodies I like. The last moisturizer I use is the one with squalane. This means all that other moisturizing ingredients will stay in my skin instead of being affected by the dry air and wind which would suck it all away. I know that’s not a super technical explanation but that’s how I’ll use this. I may just add a few drops to my last moisturizer since it’s an oil.
What’s weird about this oil is that it has Chios Mastic Gum Oil in it. I’ve had mastic gum before and it’s supposed to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties but there’s no real studies that give credence to it as a skincare product. It’s mostly folk medicine and very uncommon. So I’m not counting on that ingredient much. I’m still interested to try it but I wouldn’t pay full price for it, that’s for sure.
A little goes a LONG way with this stuff and be aware that it smells very strongly of rose.
Value: $10

Leighton Denny Expert Nails Nail Polish in Pillow Talk– This is the best color ever! It’s a deep raspberry color with plenty of glossy shine. Just the way I like it.

It’s opaque in two coats, is super easy to work with and dries in a decent (but not quick) amount of time. Love it!
Value: $19

VERDICT: One of the best Glossyboxes I’ve received. You never know, with the mystery aspect of subscription boxes, what you’re going to get and I’m always glad when I will use everything I receive. This box had a great mix of skincare and makeup, too.

If you would like to sign up for Glossybox, you can do that here. Use code TRIBETATS to get 1 of 2 TribalTats Temporary Metallic Tattoos ($18 Value) with your first GlossyBox. Summer is coming!

You can also use code EYESHIMMER and get a free Julep Gel Eye Liner in Smoky Taupe Shimmer. I like the Julep Gel Liners a lot and I have quite a few although Smoky Taupe isn’t my fave color.
