My Texas Market April 2016 Subscription Box Review and Coupon Code

My Texas Market is a specialty subscription box that sends local artisan and small business goods from the lovely state of Texas. Each month you'll get a box packed with various small-batch, locally made food items, beauty products, & home goods. It's like getting all the Farmer's Market goodies without having to leave home! No plane tickers or local knowledge required! It's one way to get hooked on some pretty great new products.

The theme this month is "Springtime in Texas." With My Texas Market, you'll get a little bit of everything. It's not just about awesome Texan food, although there is plenty of that and most of it you can't get anywhere else. In fact, one of the things I like about My Texas Market is that they include more than food.

The Cost: $35/month plus shipping (It's $44.90 total to WA)

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

Kuhdoo Soap Co. Bluebonnet Soap- This is a powerful soap! It smells so good, too. I couldn't figure out what was making my stack of boxes smell so good until I opened this up. These soaps are made from plant based oils and include a super moisturizing blend of goats milk, shea butter, avocado oil and coconut oil. This bar has raw honey and oatmeal added to it as well. It's scented with phthalate-free fragrance oil. Now you can smell all those roadside Texas bluebonnets for yourself.
Value: $6

Otavea Strawberry Sugar Scrub-This is a body scrub made with real strawberries! It also has organic cold pressed oils and cane sugar. That's it! Perfect for getting ready for summer. Tiny sugar granules soften skin by exfoliating and removing dead skin cells making this scrub great for healthy, glowing skin.
Value: $8
Brenham Kitchens Dried Strawberries- You don't even know how badly I wanted to rip these open before I took the photos. Then I broke my phone. So I opened these up because I couldn't wait any longer. These are delicious! These are Texan strawberries with organic sugar. That's it! Pure and tasty! Brenham Kitchens makes all sorts of sauces, salsas and trail mixes with natural, minimal ingredients. If you live in Texas, they appear at Farmer's Markets and if you're lucky, one will be near you!
Value: $10

Texas Hill Country Olive Co. Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar- This companyhas the only certified organic orchard in Texas! They also makes great olive oil. It appeared in a past box and I've almost used it up. This balsamic vinegar is imported from Italy then flavored with Texas blackberries. This is excellent. The flavor is amazing. I'm going to drizzle this over my caprese the next time I make it. Wow!
Value: $10
Mind Your Own Beeswax Medium Beehive Candle- If there's one thing I love it's candles. I love beeswax candles for their longevity and that subtle honey scent. These hand poured candles are non-toxic and free of chemicals and dyes so you can use them safely and happily. The beeswax is sourced from the US, too. This candle will burn for about 30 hours.
Value: $8

VERDICT: This box really felt like Spring. That could have something to do with the sunshine outside (omg, it got up to 85!! Thats a miracle!) but getting a box that seems perfectly designed for a dinner out on the patio is exactly what I need. I should set that up. A little caprese salad with Texas blackberry balsamic, strawberries on the side, nice cold ice tea and super cute candle to light once dusk hits. Perfect! With specialty boxes like this, that feature small, local businesses, you can expect to receive goods worth the price of the box. These aren't deal boxes, they're an opportunity to try something new that you'll rarely find anywhere else. They also make spectacular gifts for friends, coworkers and family members.

If you would like to sign up for My Texas Market, you can do that here. Use code 10FIRST to get 10% off your first box.

What do you think of these selections? If only Bob's BBQ in Henderson could deliver some of their mouthwatering brisket and sauce in a box like this. I snuck that stuff back on the plane once. I was worried they'd take my sauce but the TSA lady just laughed and told me to enjoy every bite when she saw it. I love Texas.

*This box was sent complimentary for review purposes. All opinions are decidedly my own.
