New Beauty Test Tube April/May 2016 Review and Coupon

New Beauty Test Tube is a beauty box that tends to have a focus on skincare. Technically it's supposed to be sending the latest and greatest of the newest beauty products on the market but I can't admit to a whole lot of that experience. While everything tends to be packed in the Tube, there can be products too big to fit, like this month! The tube and any extras arrive in a pink box so you always know to get excited when you see it.
There were ten things in my box this month but three of them are considered bonuses. Way back in the day there used to be a designated little pouch that included all the extras but that has been done away with. I'm always appreciative when I get full size bonuses, I have to admit. Even if they are repeats.
For the actual contents, there's a big, colorful booklet that explains what you've received, all it's benefits and how to use it.

The Cost: $29.95/bi-monthly plus $8.95 shipping

What You Get: An editor curated selection of beauty must-haves six times a year.  You will receive a TestTube filled with 7 or more deluxe and full-size products from popular beauty brands. Also included is a subscription to New Beauty Magazine.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum- A daytime antioxidant combination that improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I like SkinCeuticals a lot and I will definitely be using this. Vitamin C can really help your skin against sun damage, helps with evening out skin tone and improving your skin barrier. It's basically a necessity in any skincare regimen. Really happy to have this. Especially since it's so expensive I'd never buy it for full price.

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus Eye Adore Serum- A lightweight serum that hydrates while ensuring a smooth makeup application. Actually it promises a lot more than that and is packed with peptides and antioxidants. I'm using this for sure since it has some of my favorite ingredients. I'm not sure I'll only use it on my eyes, though. It's good enough for my whole face.
Peter Coppola Titanium Firm Hold Hairspray- This helps fight frizz which is my problem so I'll have to give this a whirl and see if it works! I'll have to hide it from my husband, though. Why he needs hairspray when his hair is about an inch long is beyond me!

Rituals Magic Touch Whipped Body Cream-  This is a silicone based moisturizer with antioxidants and Vitamin E. It's also made with Rice Milk and Cherry extract. Fragrance is listed really high on the ingredients list so if you're sensitive, be aware. I'm not big on body lotions so I will likely gift this.
Wilma Schumann Hydra Get Professional Treatment Mask- I just used eyegels by this same brand! I like hydo gel masks but ones like this can be too heavy and slide off your face. It was an issue with the eyegels and it seems like this mask might have the same problem. It means I have to lay down while wearing it. It has hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and collagen, all of which are great for your face. Well, collagen can't be absorbed by the skin as actual collagen (the molecule is too large) but it's alllll moisturizing which is very important.
Obliphica Professional Seaberry Hair Serum- This weightless serum gives a silky smooth finish while controlling frizz and flyaways. Yes, please! I probably could fly away on my flyaways! Hopefully this wont make my hair look greasy. You can use it on dry or wet hair, before or after styling which is nice. Totally trying it.

Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Day Cream SPF 15- I think I tried this before and liked it. It's also got antioxidants and having an SPF is always a plus.

Here are my bonuses for this box. I received a full size Hada Labo Replenishing Hydrator. This is a moisturizer I really like so I'm happy to have more. Also in the box is a travel size Eau Thermal Avene Spring Water Spray and a sample of Dr. Brandt's Needles No More. All three of these were in past boxes which is pretty normal for the bonus products. I'm happy with these for sure.

VERDICT: New Beauty Test Tube tends to be geared toward the older set. It tends to have interesting skincare products from spa brands. I find that it tends to be oddly curated with random bonus products. Repeats are pretty common if you're a long time subscriber so I suggest if you subscribe, you keep it for a year and then cancel. Otherwise you might find yourself frustrated with it's focus on a select number of brands and products. It's a little weird but I have enjoyed getting them.

If you would like to sign up for New Beauty Test Tube, you can do that right here. Use this link to get $10 off your first box. With that deal, I think it's fun and on the edge of worth it. At full price... Harder to say. It depends on what they include, of course. I think they shouldn't charge for shipping.

Did you get the same extras I did in your box? I'm always curious to see if they send everyone the same things.

  1. We are test tube twins ur the first one exactly like mine everything! Hopefully u can help with what I ahould choose I want more lol ty

  2. I got the exact same tube every product! Did u choose skincare as what u want most cuz I wasn't too happy there was zero make-up I saw another test tube from the april may tube she got different stuff including some nice make up so I put for this tube whatever u send me hoping I get more variety! Otherwise I'll cancel again lol I Was that disappointed for first tube
    Help ty

    1. They do have variations within the regularly included product sometimes. The same for the bonus products (that aren't listed in the booklet). It's so random sometimes.

If you like makeup, this box isn't good for that at all. I like Boxycharm for getting makeup and it's WAY cheaper than this one.
