Olfactif Fragrance Subscription Review April 2016

Olfactif is celebrating oncoming Spring along with their birthday this month! This is a unique fragrance subscription that sends only niche perfumes from some of the most celebrated noses in the world. Every month, you'll get seasonally appropriate scents to test along with an $18 credit toward your full size purchase if you love one.
So, you'll get three fragrances each month to try. If you fall in love, you can buy the full size on the Olfactif website with the cost of the subscription subsidizing the cost. Don't love any? You're not out the cost of a full size bottle! Always a relief. :)

The Cost: $18/month

What You Get: Three niche perfume samples in 2.25ml spray vials, carefully packaged and sent to your door every month. You'll also receive $18 toward the purchase of a full size bottle for the month.

Note Fragrances White Pepper Mandarin- This is billed as a zesty, tangy citrus with notes of white grapefruit, mandarin, rosemary and white pepper. I loved it for the lemon verbena, clary sage and cedarwood. Another note mentioned is frankincense but my skin didn't pick that or the pepper up. It is glorious. It really is just like a spring day. It makes me feel like I've just walked out into my garden. Light and springy for sure.
Mark Buxton Sleeping with Ghosts- What an interesting name! It's also an interesting scent combination. Marigold, quince, peony, leather, vetiver and vanilla. I quickly picked up on the quince and a sort of green plant smell that must have been the marigold. There's an underlying hint of leather that makes this suitably unisex and the dry down revealed the vanilla. Very subtle with a nearly undetectable sillage.
Molinard Cher Wood- I can't lie. This is basically everything I don't like about perfume. Patchouli and amber seem to induce headaches fairly quickly. I had to wash this off. It's a heavy, clinging scent (although I'm biased and couldn't get rid of it fast enough) and even after I washed the scent of cedar hung around on my skin. I'm okay with cedar but the combination of "fruit floral accords," patchouli, vetiver, agarwood and amber overpowered my love for the other notes like vanilla and sandalwood.

VERDICT: Olfactif is a fun subscription if you are a fragrance aficianado and you love collecting unique scents. I know you're out there! I'm not really one of them because of my allergies but I've had a great opportunity to find scents I can't live without and have purchased bottles based on my testing conducted via Olfactif. It's interesting and I really like the fact that none of them are "usual." No one is going to walk by you, sniff the air and be able to identify what pop star perfume you're wearing. More than once I've been stopped and asked what I'm wearing which hasn't happened before.

If you would like to subscribe to Olfactif, you can do that here. Remember, if you choose to purchase a full size bottle, the cost of your subscription will be credited to you. If you are bold and adventurous when it comes to perfume, you'll love this. If you sign up now, I believe you will receive this exact box. I think it will tell you when you sign up.
