Allure Beauty Box May 2016 Unboxing and $5 Off First Box!

The Allure Beauty Box sends high quality beauty samples every month. It’s one of my favorite low cost beauty boxes even though they rarely (RARELY) have coupons. Birchbox is hard to resist because of their coupons and points but Allure is hard to resist because of the products they include and this month is really no exception. At least for me.

The Cost: $15/month

What You Get: Five or more deluxe-size beauty samples from a curated mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrance.

Pixi MatteLustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle- Full-coverage, adjustable-finish lipstick for long lasting, vivid lip colour with a plumping effect.
This color is soooo pretty! I have one of these already, I love it and I’m very glad to have another. It’s a twist up even though it’s a mini and it’s the perfect size to carry in a tiny clutch or a pocket when necessary. Love! It’s totally my color.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara- This clump-free, volumizing mascara delivers long-lasting wear in one stroke. Using 4D technology, an exclusive microdefining wax complex envelopes the lash surface in ultrablack pigments.
I actually have used this mascara previously and really liked it. If it smudged less at the end of the night, I’d have to name it my favorite. Instead, those laurels belong to a different mascara.

Lauren B Nail Polish in Santa Barbara Surf- This true seafoam green levels out instantly, making nails look both smooth and jewel-like. A surfer’s dream, it’s the dreamy, dive-right-in shade you see when a wave breaks.
I like Lauren B nail polish. I’ve got a couple colors now from different subscription boxes and I’ve been happy with the pigmentation and the longevity. It’s not like Caite. I don’t like Caite and when I first got the Lauren B, I sort of lumped them in the same category. No. Lauren B is much better.
Value: $18

Foreo Luna Play-A waterproof facial cleansing device that channels T-Sonic™ pulsations through soft silicone touch-points for deep and gentle cleansing. The thicker touch-points deeply and precisely cleanse oilier skin, particularly on the T-zone, and the thinner touch-points gently channel pulsations, suitable for sensitive or dry skin. Combining T-Sonic pulsation with a nonabrasive silicone brush, this compact yet powerful device gently removes dead skin cells, and lifts away 99.5 percent of dirt, oil, and makeup residue.
Um, yes?! I’ll totally try this thing. I normally don’t use a physical exfoliant but this is too fun to pass up!
Value: $39 (Whaaaat?!)

Foreo Day Cleanser/Foreo Night Cleanser- These two cleansers include one for the morning to help moisturize and one for the evening that removes stubborn makeup. The Day Cleanser is made with apricot seed oil and is slightly foamy when used with the Foreo Luna. The Night Cleanser is a gel cleanser with sweet almond oil that turns to a lotion on the face then rinses clean. I haven’t tested the pH yet but I will. These are both .5oz sizes

Equitance Brightening Serum and Spot Corrector-This is a dark spot brightening serum. It uses vitamin C to help minimize the appearance of spots caused by acne and sun exposure. Vitamin C knows it’s business and I try to get it in as many of my facial products as possible. This is a little thick and is formulated to be used on specific spots not your whole face at once. I’ll use it!

Cotz Flawless Complextion SPF50- This is a zinc oxide sunscreen which is my favorite kind. I’ve had a hard time liking Cotz because their samples have been so small that they’re useless. If you can’t cover your entire face with the sample, what’s the use!? This one however, looks like it’s finally going to be enough. It’s suggested that this is amost like a makeup primer it goes on so smoothly. I think I’ll give this a shot.

VERDICT: I cannot believe that Allure managed to snag the Foreo Luna Play! That thing sells for $40 at Sephora! This is one of the reasons I like this box so much. Moreso even than Ipsy and Birchbox. They get really great products, fun brands and tend to have the most items I’ll actually use. I’m thrilled with this box!

If you’d like to sign up for the Allure Beauty Box, you can do that here. If you are a first time customer, use this link to get your first box for $5 off! The May box is SOLD OUT which I know will make many people sad. You will start with June and while you may miss out on the Foreo, you can look at my past reviews to see the kinds of things you are likely to get. In my opinion, it’s worth the $15 + tax.
