DeleteI'm not sure, of course, but the fact that the brand wasn't specified in the spoiler email could be a clue that it's not branded. The price of the item was also not mentioned. So it could go a few ways. Hopefully, if it's a knockoff, the value of the box puts it at a knockoff value (not the $110 of the branded item). I suppose we won't know till they start arriving but either way... I'm kind of in love with that towel. :D I wonder when these ship...

DeleteWhat other cover up or poncho ( surely not a $110 towel could this item be? In other words, why do people question the authenticity? It seems rather unique to me, but maybe I'm not in the fashion towel loop...
ReplyDeleteIf you do a Google image search on the description, it pops right up. The photos lead to the Beach People website. However, since it's a spoiler and we don't have all the information, I think that people were concerned that a knockoff item was being given a branded value. No value was specifically stated in the email spoiler which makes it difficult to be sure.

While The Beach People is probably the company most commonly associated with round beach towels, they are produced by a number of different manufacturers. Ours is not a Beach People towel, but it has been carefully selected for our members for its design and quality. We have not finalized the individual price for our towel, but it will not be $110 (or $125, as Beach People towels are priced at some retailers). It will be commiserate with similar towels on the market, and again, this is a unique and high-quality towel, so probably not too far off from that, but definitely under $100.
