My Texas Market May 2016 Specialty Subscription Box and Coupon

One of the things I love about My Texas Market is that they send goodies from small businesses that I would never have access to in any other way. It's one of the fun things about local boxes no matter which one you choose. I'm always a big fan of supporting local shops and women owned businesses.
This might be my favorite My Texas Market ever! The theme is Backyard BBQ and boy, does it deliver! Wow! My husband has already decided what he's having for dinner based on the contents.

The Cost: $35/month.

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

White Cloud World Teas Peach Paradise- This is made with peach and apple pieces, hibiscus blossoms, elderberries, rosehips, passionfruit and sunflower. It's an herbal blend which is great because it means I can drink it at any time of day.
It looks fantastic! It tastes even better. Love it! I need to try it iced, now.
Value: $6.95
Larry's Bag of Smoke Hickory Smoke Bag- This handy dandy thing gives an authentic wood-smoke flavor to your food! We are totally using this this weekend. You soak it in water, then put it on tin foil and put it in the grill. Once it starts to smoke-- add your steak and chicken (or whatever). The best part is that it can be reused!
Value: $5.95

Spaulding's Specialty Spices Smoke on the Barbie Rub- This is a blend of thyme, basil, onion, garlic, smoked paprika and smoked sea salt. To say it smells amazing is an understatement. This makes my mouth water. I can't wait to try it (along with some of this other stuff). This brand is made in small batches using organic spices. They're also a Best of Dallas winner and I can't find a single way to get this online. Just Farmer's Markets. You lucky Texans!
Value: priceless
Stellar Gourmet Foods Texas Triple Threat Mustard- This mustard has habaneros, tequile and grapefruit in it! I can't even imagine that combination but my husband (who loves mustard) said it was very flavorful. He then said I needed to get him some sandwich meat for him to slather it on. He also said it's the first spicy mustard he's had that was actually spicy. There's nothing bland about this one!
Value: $5.99

Benjamin Soap Co. Bug Repellent- Made by hand from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible this bug repellent stick is deet free and uses citronella, eucalyptus and clove to keep the bugs away. Since I'm allergic to mosquitos and we are going to be camping out quite a bit this summer, I'll be taking this with me. I mean, I'll be taking the Deet stuff, too, because it's really the only thing that keeps the mosquitos from getting me but I'm all about using whatever I can to not get bit! I hate mosquitos. So. Much.
Value: ~$8
Kellie's Baking Co. Mason Jar Brookie- This has a layer of chocolate chip cookie and a layer of brownie and it's in a cute, little jar! It has chocolate and caramel drizzle on top along with marshmallows. And I ate it. Already. Yep, it was pretty tasty. I tried taking a picture of it but the photos I took didn't really make it look as good as it was. Yum!
Value: $5.50

VERDICT: I just love the creativity of My Texas Market. They really do find such excellent products to put in their box. This month was so perfect for us, too. Everything tasted great and I love the inclusion of the bug repellent stick. Sometimes it's easy to only find food in boxes like this but My Texas Market always seems to find something non-food related and fun to sneak in. I don't mind the food, of course. This is Texas we are talking about. Texans know how to do food, that much I'm sure of. My grandma's cooking is second to none and I love visiting even though I tend to gain five pounds every time.
I'm also excited to see how the Bag of Smoke works out for us. Because of this box, this weekend has been dedicated to bbqing.

If you're missing Texas and all it's encompassing goodness, you need to get yourself a box. They feature small businesses and farmer's market staples and I absolutely love it. Nothing ever goes to waste.
