Walmart Beauty Box Summer 2016 Classic Box Review

Walmart has jumped on the beauty sampling box bandwagon. They’re pretty hit or miss but for $5 it’s hard to resist. I get the “old lady” classic box but there’s another version called the Trendsetter for those under 35.
For those curious, these boxes are not high quality makeup and skincare. They are mostly drugstore brands and/or products you’ll find in a Walmart. I should also warn you that sometimes the boxes can be horrible and packed with foil samples. I almost cancelled after my Winter 2015 box but decided that for $5 I might as well just continue.

The Cost: $5/quarterly

What You Get: Deluxe size products and foil samples with the occasional full size goodie.

Degree Invisible Solid Anti-Perspirant Deodorant- The scent? A hilarious “Sexy Intrigue.” I don’t even want to know why deodorant would ever have a name like that. There is seriously nothing sexy about deodorant. At least for me.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer– This is a tinted moisturizer that gradually tans your skin. I just finished off my other Jergens tube so this is a welcome addition.  My ghost white legs will appreciate it.

Caress Body Wash– This is a shimmering purple body wash that has something called “fragrance release pearls” in it. I don’t know. It’s called Mystique Forever. Apparently if I use this and the Degree deodorant I will become an unknowable conundrum…

Toms of Maine Rapid Relief Sensitive Toothpaste– My husband loves the Tom’s of Maine toothpastes and he has sensitive teeth, so this will go to him.

Swisspers Blotting Papers– A nice pack of 100. I don’t use oil blotting papers since I don’t really need them. Dry skin has one benefit, I guess.

Aveeno Skin Relief Gentle Scent Lotion–  (I apparently forgot to put this the photo— whoops) This is a moisturizing lotion for sensitive or itchy skin. It’s lightly scented with coconut oil.

Samples: There are usually several samples and coupons floating loose in the box but my only extra was the L’Oreal Ultimate Straight packets.

VERDICT: You can’t expect a lot from the Walmart Beauty Box. If your expectations are low then you’ll be pleasantly surprised when your box arrives with something full size or with products you’ll use. It’s $5, that’s why I stay subscribed but if you’re on a budget, this is an easy one to skip.

If you would like to sign up for the Walmart Beauty Box, you can do that here. You will start with the current seasons’ box until they sell out. I think it tells you when you sign up. It may have changed a bit since I signed up and you may now be able to choose Trendsetter (younger) or Classic (old lady). If not, keep in mind that it goes by whatever age/date-of-birth you put in.

What do you think of the Walmart Beauty Box? I’ve noticed a bunch of variations this time around, too. Did you like what you got?
