My Texas Market July 2016 Specialty Subscription Box Review and Coupon

My Texas Market is turning one and they've packed up a celebration for the July 2016 box. If you love handmade, artisan foods and goodies galore, My Texas Market is the perfect box. You'll find goods made by Texas that can usually only be found in local farmers markets. If you're like me, farmer's markets are a little slice of heaven and it's difficult not to want some of everything.
Each month you'll receive a selection of goodies from artisans and crafters based in Texas. There is a food focus but you'll usually find one or two non-food items in each box. It's a lot of fun and I really love it because I think Texas has some of the best food ever.

The Cost: $35/month plus shipping

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

Blue Heron Farm Original Cajeta Goat Milk Caramel- This is a LOT of caramel! It's made with goat's milk from Blue Heron Farm which uses sustainable agricultural practices. Just goat's and the countryside-- no herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, etc. I don't think I've ever had caramel made from goat's milk so this should be interesting to try. I need some ice cream!
Value: $6

EcoBabe Cupcake Candle- It would be hard to send a real cupcake for a birthday celebration so this candle will have to do. And yes, it does smell just like a vanilla cupcake with frosting and sprinkles. This candle is made with soy wax and pure essential oils.
Value: $11
EMZ Jamz The Peach Boys- Sweet peach jam from Texan peach trees in Fredericksburg. This can be used so many more ways than just toast, too. Try it on pork chops, with baked brie or over icecream and pancakes. I'm just sad there's so little of it!
Value: $2
Bona Dea Outrageous Oat Cookie Mix- This is a gluten, dairy, egg and nut free so those with allergies can rejoice. it's maade with GMO free, organic whole grains and can be used to make anything from tart crusts to yes, cookies! We are going camping with a friend who is has to go gluten free. I think I'll make these to bring with us.
Value: $6.99
Cornucopia Popcorn Patriot Pop- This popcorn is tossed in pretty colors with cherry and blue raspberry flavors. I love this stuff! It's gluten free, vegan and made with non-GMO corn so you can eat without worry. This bag isn't going to last very long around here and I don't think I'm going to share, either. :D
Value: $4.25

VERDICT: While I love the products chosen for this box it's a little light on value. Specialty boxes will not give you a big bang for your buck but I do want them to be worth the price paid including shipping. It just needs one more product to be perfect. The products themselves? Faaaaaabulous! All fun inclusions in a birthday box and I'm excited to use every single thing! I already ate all the Patriot Pop. Oops. The caramel is going with me to my MIL's house. She's lactose intolerant but because this is made with goat's milk she will be able to enjoy it. Super happy about that, she will love it! Now I just have to keep my fingers out of it until then.

If you would like to sign up for My Texas Market, you can do that right here. Use code 10FIRST for 10% off your first month!

Do you get any local boxes that you enjoy?

  1. Sarah, goat milk caramels and caramel sauce is big in Texas. So is the not so new goat's milk soap and bath soaks, and probably other products. I went nuts over it when we first moved here. That and the homemade fudge that's famous around my area. Great fudge.. can't eat any of that stuff now either. I think I need a piece of hard candy or something, as all roads lead back to " FOOD!!!" today.

Have fun camping. Does your friend have an allergy to 11 types of ivy? ( " Frasier" reference)
