RawSpiceBar September 2016 Argentine Spice Box Review and Coupon

RawSpiceBar features spice blends celebrating Argentine cuisine this month. While Argentina is famous for it's barbeque, with it's heavy influx of immigrants from Italy and Spain, there is a melting pot of influences that cover everything from pasta to scones.

There have been a few changes since RawSpiceBar first started. The price is now $8 and while the spices used to weigh in around 2-3 ounces, they are now 1-1.5oz. The packaging has also changed from resealable packets to the current tear top. I definitely prefer the old packaging but the blends are still great.

The Cost: $8/month

What You Get: Three spice pouches, which are enough to create 3 individual dishes serving 4 people. The total amount of spices will typically weigh between 1-1.5 ounces each month. You'll also receive recipes and cultural tips and notes.

Plaid Cow Society Grass Fed Beef Subscription Review plus 20% Off Pre Order Promotion!

Plaid Cow Society is determined to turn back time by sending glorious, hand-cut, freshly butchered grassfed beef right to your door. When I was a kid, that's how we ate our beef. The butcher came to grandma's and took care of business then and there. The gigantic freezer in the garage was then packed with paper-wrapped packages of beefy, porky and goaty goodness.

Life doesn't really work that way anymore. At least not for me or anyone I know. I've been buying grocery store meat without regard for it's previously frozen state for a long time. It's not easy to find truly grassfed beef without hormones or antibiotics. But that's where Plaid Cow Society comes in.
Plaid Cow deals directly with ranchers, packers and butchers to send fresh, never frozen cuts of grassfed (and finished) beef right to your door. The beef comes from family farms located primarily on the West Coast. You can see the full list here. My packages say these were packed on the 16th and my meat showed up on the 18th. That's pretty fresh.

The Cost: $129/month per shipment

What You Get: You'll receive 16 meals in 12 cuts for a total of 6-7 pounds of fresh, never frozen, grassfed and finished, free-range, hormone free beef. It's what's for dinner.

Snakku Premium Japanese Snack Subscription September 2016 Review and Coupon

Snakku might be the most beautifully packaged subscriptions that I get. The attention to detail with this subscription is superb. From the outer paper Furoshiki cloth to the information card, everything is well presented.

With Snakku, you'll receive exclusive products and snacks brought directly from Japan made by Japanese artisans who have been making treats for generations. It's a truly unique and wonderful experience. While I am not a conoisseur of Japanese snacks, it has been remarkably fun to be able to try some of the treats more commonly found in Japan.
The theme this month is focused on two ingredients native to Japan-- Yuzu and Kinako.

Yuzu is a citrus fruit grown on the island of Shikoku. Fifty percent of the worlds yuzu is grown right there. The fruit is very fragrant and is less tart than a lemon or lime. It's described as being almost a combination of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon and lime.

Kinako is a type of roasted soybean flour made from yellow soybeans. It's very finely ground and has a slightly sweet, nutty taste. In fact, it was used to make sweets before sugar was introduced to Japan.

The Cost: $38.95/month

What You Get: Get a collection of ten to fifteen hand-picked snacks that you can only find in Japan, along with a selection of familiar & delicious Japanese snacks delivered every month.

Kloverbox Subscription Box Review September 2016 plus Coupon Code

Kloverbox has recently had a change in owners and so far everything is going swimmingly. The September 2016 box celebrates national Yoga Month. It has some really interesting items I'm already trying so I think it's a good one!
Kloverbox is designed to help you incorporate safe, effective products into your daily life. You'll find not only organic, natural and cruelty-free beauty products but also lifestyle, nutrition and healthy home items. It's one of my favorite boxes operating in this genre. I personally love the fact that it's not all beauty products. I can get that stuff in other boxes. But home goods? Not so much.

The Cost: $25/month

What You Get: Receive premium natural, cruelty-free and organic products to sample from top brands and hand-picked by health conscious curators in beauty, health, nutrition and home categories.

Surprise Pawty Subscription Box for Dogs September 2016 plus 15 % Off Coupon

If you haven't picked up a box of awesome for your dog, I highly recommend it. Surprise Pawty showed up today and I'm thrilled with the contents. So are the boys! This is a brand new subscription box for dogs and if their first box is anything to go by, it's going to be a great one.
Surprise Pawty really wants to send you things your dog will love. When you go through the checkout process you'll be asked for details about your pups. In the Additional Notes section, you should write in about allergies, play habits, favorite kinds of toys, etc. That way, your box can be curated just for you. This review is for the Small Dog box.
If you're looking for a subscription which will send high quality toys and organic treats, you will definitely want to check this box out. No matter what size dog you have. Surprise Pawty even has boxes for tiny dogs under 10lbs. Those can be hard to find!

The Cost: $39.99/month (Less with longer subscriptions)

What You Get: You'll receive 5-6 premium items including natural, healthy, organic treats and safe, durable, interactive toys. Also included will be accessories and essentials to help you care for your dogs.

Sephora Play! September 2016 Subscription Box Review and Giveaway!

The theme for the September 2016 Sephora Play! box is "The Unbasic Basics." What does that mean to you? Black eyeliner? Check! Is it unbasic when it's Kat Von D's Tattoo liner? Hm. I'm gonna go with 'yes.' Sephora is actually doing a great job of putting products in these boxes that I can't resist trying. When you get a million beauty boxes, it can become sort of rote, but Sephora has surprised me.
You'll recieve all your goodies in a cute cotton drawstring pouch. The artwork has changed every time, too, so they're all different. One thing that's always included that I never use is a card for 50 Beauty Insider points. You can only use it in store and I rarely hit up a brick and mortar.
The color scheme was silver with a pop of green. I don't think I've ever seen such a monotone box before. That might be why I noticed it right off the bat. It doesn't matter, of course, because the products are fun!

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: A collection of five deluxe samples plus a fragrance in a cute bag, delivered monthly. Plus a Play!Pass for 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase in store.

Popsugar Must Have Limited Edition Fall 2016 Review

I used to be able to resist these limited edition boxes. Then I just gave up. Popsugar knows how to make me happy and it's usually always worth it. Actually, I think so far, it always has. The Popsugar Limited Edition boxes have incredible value and if you don't love everything, gifting what you don't like is easy.
The spoiler for this box was the Caeden Linea Headphones in Rose Gold. They're expensive! I almost (almost) bought a second box just so I could gift a pair. The only reason I didn't was that if I didn't like them, I could gift the ones I had. The headphones alone were worth more than the cost of the box which made my deal-loving brain very happy.

The Cost: $100/ea

What You Get: All the things!

Bokksu September 2016 Premium Japanese Snack Subscription Review and Coupon

Bokksu is a new snack subscription that sends premium Japanese snacks and treats sourced directly from Japan. If you're looking for brightly colored candies and DIY kits, this box is not for you. If you want multiples of quality, hard to get treats, read on.
The theme this month is Kyushu. Kyushu is the island at the southernmost tip of the string of Japanese islands. Kyushu means "nine states" and is in reference to the nine provinces that existed in the 600's and beyond. Currently, Kyushu is divided into seven states, though.

In the 1500's, Portugal made first contact with Japan and Kyushu became home to one of the first ports of trade with the West. Trade included rice, tea, sweet potatoes and later porcelain, precious metals, mangoes and persimmons, among other things, of course.
Every box comes with an information card. You'll learn about the theme and each treat whether it's where it came from or it's history. I always appreciate a little more info when it comes to treats I'm not familiar with.

The Cost: $39/month.

What You Get: You'll receive 13 to 15 authentic Japanese snacks sourced directly from Japan plus a tea pairing curated around a cultural theme.

Popsugar Must Have September 2016 Subscription Box Review and Coupon

Popsugar Must Have is a lifestyle box that sends anything from jewelry and snacks to fitness items and accessories. It's one of my favorite boxes just because it always has full size products that are easy to incorporate into your every day life. I've found more things that I now can't live without in my Popsugar boxes than any other box. I love finding these on my porch.
Every box comes with an information card giving you the details on what you've received and gives little explanations about how you can use each item or where it comes from. There's usually a theme for each box, although sometimes it can be hard to make the connection. Above are the ones used for this month's box.

The Cost: $39.99/month

What You Get: Full size, premium products dealing with Home, Fashion, Fitness, Beauty and Food.

TeeBlox September 2016 Subscription Review and Coupon

While my husband likes to dress up and tie fancy knots in his neckwear, he also has a penchant for nerdy tshirts. Anything with old video games or favorite TV shows like Futurama or Rick and Morty, Star Wars or Deadpool will make him happy. Before TeeBlox, I subscribed to some of the geek boxes out there like Nerd Block and Loot Crate, mainly for the tshirts. The extra bits tended to gather dust or be tossed out as useless.

TeeBlox is much more affordable and sends exactly what I want. One fun tshirt a month. Plus they're licensed, not mashups.

The Cost: $12.99 plus $2.99 shipping

What You Get: One 100% authentic licensed geek and gamer shirt delivered to your door every month. You'll also get two extra goodies that could be socks, coasters, posters, comic books, decals, stickers, etc.

Allure Beauty Box September 2016 Review and $5 Off Coupon

One thing I do have to say about the Allure Beauty Box is that it always takes too long to get here. I feel like I tend to anxiously await it's appearance every month. I really hope that when/if I have to change my address that I don't miss out on getting one. I love this box.
Every month comes with a little mini mag explaining what you've received and little tidbits of information. Usually there are some of the editors thoughts on how they felt about each product, too.
In all honesty, this month was not my favorite box. I like big samples! This box had some tiny ones. Although I think one of these samples may have tainted the whole box for me. :D

The Cost: $15/month

What You Get: Five or more deluxe-size beauty samples from a curated mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrance.

Popsugar Mini Subscription Box Review September 2016

By far, I think this might be one of the most fun Popsugar Mini boxes so far. They've only been doing this since April and my main concern has been the low value compared to the price of the regular Popsugar box. It's a tough sell to get two items worth $30 for $20 when you can get six or seven worth over $100 for $40.
This box, however, finally reaches a value point that I can recommend it without guilt. Although, I think I've mainly been steering people away from getting the Mini most of the time. Last month's was good because it had three items.

The Cost: $18.95/month

What You Get: The monthly MINI box will feature two similarly themed full-sized products that will complement the regular monthly Must Have Box. The monthly mini subscription box will include products worth over $30.

Sock Club September 2016 Review and 10% Off Coupon

In case you didn't know you could get socks by mail, I'm here to let you know. It's probably one of the best possibly ways to get mystery socks. I've tried a couple of these services now and not all socks are created equal, I have to admit. Maybe I'm picky when it comes to socks. I like them to be soft, not get twisty when you try to put them on and if they're a little grippy around the middle of my foot, that's awesome, too.
Sock Club sends one colorful, perfect pair of socks a month. You can sign up for monthly subscriptions or longer or you can send a subscription as a gift to a sock loving friend or family member. Socks are kind of a running joke with my husband. He gets me a pair of socks every Christmas, birthday and Valentine's Day. I have a lot of socks...

The Cost: $12/month

What You Get: One super awesome, comfy pair of unique socks.

Amoda Tea Subscription August 2016 Review and Coupon

Besides having quite an extensive online tea shop, Amoda Teas also has a subscription tea sampling service. It's a way for you to try new teas that you might never know of otherwise. As a tea lover, I was very curious to see what the subscription entailed.
The focus is on small and independent, hand crafted teas so it's unlikely you'll receive one you've already tried. If you're anything like me, I have a hard time saying "no" to new tea even though my cupboard is overflowing with all different kinds.

The Cost: $18/month

What You Get: Four (12+ cups) tea samples from fun brands and small-batch tea blenders from all over North America. Also included are disposable tea filters, steeping instructions and recipes. You'll also receive free shipping on purchases in the shop.

Box of Style Fall 2016 by Rachel Zoe and The Zoe Report Review and $10 Coupon

Box of Style commands a space on my "Top Ten" favorite subscription boxes because it's fashion oriented and always worth the cost for me. Each box will have fashion items, beauty products and a styling tool. There's always a "hero" item which is usually worth a large portion of the box value. The Fall 2016 box is unique in that it has a jewelry item from Rachel Zoe's own line! I know a lot of us have been hoping for that. Here's to more of all that in the coming month!
When this box first came out I decided to subscribe for the Annual subscription and I'm so glad I did. It's a savings of $50 which is nice, especially when I have liked every box.

The actual box that everything comes in has a flip lid with a magnetic closure. It is eminently re-usable which is perfect. Not only that but every thing inside is individually wrapped. It's like a birthday present!

The Cost: $100/quarter

What You Get: At least five products worth over $300 in fashion, beauty and lifestyle carefully curated by Rachel Zoe and her team.

Tuesday Tidbits

I'm going to be a little scarce for the next few weeks. We are potentially moving to Colorado Springs and I have a lot of things to get in order to prepare for the possibility of selling the house. That means tons of yardwork, housecleaning and doing all the things we've put off. Even though it's not official (yet), it's definitely been motivation to get things done.

It's going to be a challenge, I have to admit. We don't really know anything about Colorado or the Springs area so I'm hoping we make good decisions on where to live and purchase a home. Now that we're thinking of moving, I see all the flaws with our current house. I don't think we will have a problem selling it but still...

I think we may end up renting a home for a bit to try and find the best area for us. Currently I'm looking at Monument, CO. It's so crazy how different the housing market is. You couldn't even find a house under 300k if you wanted to around here. But in the Colorado Springs area, you can get a huge house with tons of bedrooms for $200k. That is a big cost of living change and I think we are going to like it.

If anyone lives (or has lived) near Colorado Springs and has some tips, I'm all ears.

So posts will probably be few and far between for some time. If we find out we aren't moving, I should get back to normal pretty quickly. If we are... Well, it may be a few months before the blog is back up and running like normal.

GlobeIn August 2016 "Threads" Subscription Box Review and Coupon

I used to not think very much about where the things I used around the house came from. Thanks to subscriptions like GlobeIn, I'm far more aware and conscientious. It's uplifting to be able to support real women and help artisans earn a living wage for the hard work that they do. It really does make a difference.

GlobeIn partners with socially responsible businesses and artisans to send quality, fairly traded goods to your door every month. You never know what you might find in your box and you might be surprised by where some of the beautiful pieces come from.

This review is for the Artisan Box but there is also a smaller version-- The Benefit Basket. The Benefit basket comes in a handwoven basket (made in Mexico) and one handmade, curated item. This review is for the Artisan box.

The Cost: $40/month for the Artisan Box, $19.99/month for the Benefit Basket.

What You Get: In the Artisan Box, you'll find exclusive, handcrafted products from global artisans curated around a monthly theme. The Benefit Basket will have one handmade, globally sourced item along with the GlobeIn signature woven basket.

PetGiftBox August 2016 Small Dog Box Review and 50% Off Coupon

Today I had to take Dexter in to Petco to get his nails clipped. He hates it, of course, but his nails are black and I'd rather he despise someone else for doing it rather than giving me reproachful looks for the rest of the day. While I was there, I realized just how great having a subscription box for toys and treats is.

Wandering the aisles and noticing how much everything costs showed me that I'm getting a good deal on what shows up every month for the boys. PetGiftBox is one of the dog boxes we get and they tend to send toys and treats other boxes don't. Whether that's good or bad depends on each particular box. If you are looking for high quality toys, this isn't the box for you. If you have a dog who tends to shred everything anyway, take a look.

The Cost: $28.99/month

What You Get: Each monthly box contains a combination of 4-6 treats, toys, and other great products that have been hand picked for your pet.

Try the World "Thailand" Subscription Box Review and Free Box Offer!

Try the World is a chef-curated international specialty food subscription. Every month, you will receive a collection of products from a country or region of the world carefully selected to give the best representation of the area's cuisine. It's a way to experiment with new foods and flavors and add a little zest to your pantry.

I've found some irresistable items in these boxes. I have also purchased more several times and in quantity. If you fall in love with something Try the World has a shop where you can get more. That is a huge benefit. Especially with some of these elusive goodies.

The theme this month is Thailand. The curator is Jet Tila, a regular judge on Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen. He also owns some Thai restaurants in Texas. The contents he has chosen are accompanied by recipes for a complete Thai meal.

The Cost: $39.99/month or bi-monthly

What You Get:  A carefully selected collection of gourmet products most representative of the featured country's cuisine.
