Allure Beauty Box September 2016 Review and $5 Off Coupon

One thing I do have to say about the Allure Beauty Box is that it always takes too long to get here. I feel like I tend to anxiously await it’s appearance every month. I really hope that when/if I have to change my address that I don’t miss out on getting one. I love this box.

Every month comes with a little mini mag explaining what you’ve received and little tidbits of information. Usually there are some of the editors thoughts on how they felt about each product, too.
In all honesty, this month was not my favorite box. I like big samples! This box had some tiny ones. Although I think one of these samples may have tainted the whole box for me. 😀

The Cost: $15/month

What You Get: Five or more deluxe-size beauty samples from a curated mix of skin, hair, and makeup products as well as fragrance.

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk– This is a soap free cleanser that uses coconut oil to clean. If your skin doesn’t get along with coconut oil and it’s derivatives, you’ll want to avoid this. Many people find coconut oil to be comodegenic, sadly. Oil cleansers are great for getting the days makeup off so I highly recommend one if you don’t use one already. I feel bad for not liking Pur-lisse that much since it appears way too often in subscription boxes but… well, it’s just not my favorite.

Orly Breathable Treatment and Color in Nourishing Nude– Pretty boring color. Not something I’d ever wear. Especially with my huge collection of actually pretty colors. 😀 I like Orly though.GrandePrimer– I feel like I have this already from a different box. Probably the New Beauty TestTube. This is a conditioner for your eyelashes. I’m not sure on the science of it but it has beeswax and stearic acid in it. It goes on white but you really don’t notice it once you put your mascara on. It *is* noticeable if you don’t put mascara over it. I was putting it on before bed but I really don’t notice a difference.

Supergoop Shine on Lip Screen SPF 50– A super tiny sample of lip gloss with spf. It uses avobenzone, homosalate and octinoxate which are not my preferred sunscreens. I mean, they work, which is great, but they can be irritating to those with sensitive skin. And your lips are pretty delicate… Also, Supergood always seems to have the tiniest samples ever. Okay, I just tried this. It’s TERRIBLE. It tastes awful and smells just like you’ve wiped sunscreen on your lips (which, to be fair, is exactly what you’re doing). I had to wipe it off. It also made my lips burn! What the heck!? Don’t use this! Yuck!

Eau Thermale Avene PhysioLift Eyes– A moisturizing eye cream with sodium hyaluronate to plump out your wrinkles and some vitamin A to scare new ones away. I’ll use it!

Bvlgari Omnia Coral– I don’t think I’ve ever found a Bvlgari perfume that I actually liked. They all seem way too “old lady” to me. The bottle is adorable, though!

VERDICT: Well, my lips are STILL burning from that awful Supergoop. How did that make it past the testing stage?! I guess I’m glad it was in here because now I know to avoid it? This box was pretty bland. Even the colors were boring. I wish the Orly hadn’t been nude.

If you would like to sign up for the Allure Beauty Box, they’re usually better than this! Or at least I think so. You can sign up here and you’ll get $5 off your first box if you’re a new subscriber.

What did you think of the box this month? I haven’t received my Birchbox yet but I think it might win this month (for the first time in a long time)!
