GlobeIn August 2016 "Threads" Subscription Box Review and Coupon

I used to not think very much about where the things I used around the house came from. Thanks to subscriptions like GlobeIn, I'm far more aware and conscientious. It's uplifting to be able to support real women and help artisans earn a living wage for the hard work that they do. It really does make a difference.

GlobeIn partners with socially responsible businesses and artisans to send quality, fairly traded goods to your door every month. You never know what you might find in your box and you might be surprised by where some of the beautiful pieces come from.

This review is for the Artisan Box but there is also a smaller version-- The Benefit Basket. The Benefit basket comes in a handwoven basket (made in Mexico) and one handmade, curated item. This review is for the Artisan box.

The Cost: $40/month for the Artisan Box, $19.99/month for the Benefit Basket.

What You Get: In the Artisan Box, you'll find exclusive, handcrafted products from global artisans curated around a monthly theme. The Benefit Basket will have one handmade, globally sourced item along with the GlobeIn signature woven basket.

Trive Alive Foldover Clutch- In collaboration with Tribe Alive, this clutch was made in India by Seen Unseen. They are a group of 15 full time staff and 20 artisans that work colors and design in to textiles. The fabric is handwoven and the patterns also created in the shop.
This is a sturdy clutch with a unbleached cotton lining and YKK gold zipper.
Value: $50
Tassel Bag Charm- Made in Honduras by the Mi Esperanza collective. The making of this charm allowed Dilicia to hire six more artisans. GlobeIn makes a difference! This is not my favorite thing in the box since it appears to be made with butchers string but knowing it helped provide struggling families put food on the table is worth it.
Value: $10
Wildlife Works Vicky Tee- Vicky was born in Kenya and struggled to go to school and university via odd jobs. Now she works for Wildlife Works in the shipping department and is working her way toward starting her own fashion line. Now that is dedication!
Not only that but this tee is a beautiful blue, super soft and I can tell it's going to be my new favorite thing.
Value: $30
Della Spotted Bandana- A pretty blue and white square bandana that can be tied around your neck, head or handbag for a splash of color. It's pretty cute. I need to learn a good knot, I think, in order for this to look right around my neck. This bandana was made in Ghana by Della, a socially responsible fashion line. Della provides their employees with a steady, fair income and educational advancement opportunities.
Value: $10
Woven Basket- If you purchase this month's box, you will receive either the bandana OR this woven palm leaf basket. Colors will vary.

VERDICT: This might be my favorite box from GlobeIn. I am loving their new informational booklets which give information about the hands behind the scenes. It's nice to know where these came from and how the proceeds are able to enrich lives that I would never be able to touch on my own.

If you would like to sign up for GlobeIn, you can do that here. Between now and September 6th, all new Artisan Box customers can save $12 with a purchase of 3-month or longer subscription. Promo code: GLOBEIN12.
