My Texas Market October 2016 Review and Coupon

My Texas Market is a specialty subscription box that focuses on some of the best Texan products. Each month you'll get a box packed with various small-batch, locally made food items, beauty products, & home goods. When it comes to box genres, this is one of my favorite kinds. First, it supports hardworking locals and it also gives me an opportunity to try things I would normally never come across.

The theme this month is "Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice" and everything fits so perfectly within it!

The Cost: $35/month plus shipping

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

Spaulding's Specialty Spices Holiday Spice Sugar- This is actually a really fun and interesting addition to this box! I've never purchased anything like this myself since I tend to have all the spices to make my own but this has fenugreek in it, which I've never even considered. It also has sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and lemon peel. It's got great flavor. Now I just need to make some sugar cookies! As a bonus, it's certified organic!

From Scratch Farm Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub- This has appeared before in this box and I loved it. It's a sugar scrub made in Boerne, Texas that smells so good you want to eat it. It's made with brown sugar, honey, olive oil and spices and is a great exfoliator to use before shaving.
Confituras Bourbon Caramel Apple Jam- So I have to tell you what the website says because otherwise you're not going to have full appreciation for something that already sounds wonderful. "To make this heavenly jam, a mix of heirloom apples from the Texas panhandle are slowly cooked down and gently blended with fresh caramel made from organic cane sugar. Confituras finishes it off with “just a snort” of Treaty Oak Distilling Company’s Red-Handed Bourbon Whiskey, distilled right down the street in Austin." Sounds mighty Texan and mighty tasty to me! It's pretty delicious. I used it to make the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich ever. And then I ate some plain. Because why not? This Dallas company has won many awards for their jams and I can see why!
Srsly Chocolate in Pumpkin Spice- This is a gloriously dark chocolate made with Dominican cacao and fair trade cane sugar along with organic cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. It's very dark and very tasty but has a somewhat gritty mouthfeel. This chocolate is stoneground in Austin Texas and made by hand.
Tradition Scents Starbucks Coffee Wax Melts- While I may not be a big fan of Starbucks coffee (or coffee in general) I *love* the smell of it. That coffee aisle at the grocery store? Yes, I try to breathe in as much as possible. So good. I have two little wax melter thingamajigs that I need to get out so I can use these. 'Tis the season!

VERDICT: I can't get enough of this box! If you love farmer's markets, you're going to love this box. It's one of the few boxes where I end up using everything in it. If you know subscription boxes, you know that's rare. But with My Texas Market, it happens over and over.

It's also perfect during the holiday season because things like the Confituras Bourbon jam with a smidge of brie on crostini make an excellent hors d'oeuvre that no guest will find anywhere else. Know what I mean? Since I've gotten older, I've started trying harder to bring something to parties that no one else will bring. My Texas Market has been there for me several times now!

If you would like to sign up for My Texas Market (or give a gift!), you can do that here. Use code 10FIRST to get 10% off your first box!

What kinds of things do you take to parties? I'll take all the ideas!
