I always seem to find something in a My Texas Market box that I need more of. This time it's marshmallows. Homemade marshmallows. So insanely good. This is a subscription that focuses on Texan makers and artisans. If you like to shop local (although Texas isn't local for me, it is local for the subscription curators) or if you love farmer's market goodies, this is going to be just your style!
The theme this month is all about the holidays. We celebrate Christmas around here and it's been a little less "Christmas-y" than normal because of packing up a lot of our belongings. This box was just what I needed!
So much good stuff!
The Cost: $35/month plus shipping (It's $44.90 total to WA)
What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.
Michele's Marshmallows Vanilla Marshmallows- These are so good I hardly know what to do with myself. I tried not to eat them all in one sitting. I tried not to eat them all in one day. My trying did not work because these were so mouthwateringly delicious. They tasted like brown sugar to me which is weird because they're vanilla. SO good. I looked them up to buy more and was a little put off by the price. Now I want to try and make my own and see if I can do it. These are made with organic ingredients and have no high fructose corn syrup.
Value: $8
Kuhdoo Soap Co. Holiday Cheer Soap- This is made with Shiner Holiday Cheer beer, coconut oil and Texas honey. It smells amazing!
Value: $8
Bleu Willow Market Texas Ornament- This is a hand painted wooden ornament from reclaimed fencing. The Bleu Willow Market website is all about the Farmhouse style. I love it but I'm restraining myself until we actually move.
Value: $10
The Barton Table Peppermint Chocolate Sauce- So hard to resist! This is a small batch dessert sauce that you could slather on just about anything and be completely happy. I used it to make some peppermint hot chocolate and it was very tasty. I think it might be even better right from the jar with a spoon. :D
Value: $10
Jammit Jam Cherry Clove Cabernet- This is not just jam. This is fancy jam! I haven't opened it and tried it yet because I'm planning on using it for the dish I'm making for Christmas but it sounds amazing, doesn't it? Made with cherries, pure cane sugar, cloves and a splash of Cabernet. I'm thinking of pouring it over cheesecake. But I may just serve it with baked brie since that's easier. Decisions, decisions.
Value: $8
VERDICT: I absolutely love this box! The marshmallows were pure heaven and inspired me to make my own for the first time. They turned out perfect but they don't taste like Michele's! I think I'm going to see if I can make my own cane sugar syrup next time instead of using corn syrup. My Texas Market is my favorite location inspired box ever. I've tried quite a few but this one is right at the top of my list. Consistently great boxes overall.
