Chococurb January 2017 Mini Review and 10% Off Coupon

My mom loves this Chococurb subscription. It's pure gourmet chocolate goodness every month and since it's personalized, you always get what you like. This review is for the Mini version which comes with three premium chocolate bars. There is a larger size with six to seven chocolate products in it and there's a less expensive version with five smallish chocolates.
There's really no set theme for each month and there's no information card detailing what you've received. I wish there was but my guess is that with the amount of personalization happening, it's probably a little difficult for a small business like this.

The Cost: $20/month

What You Get: Three specialty chocolates or chocolate related items from small, local chocolatiers to more established, national brands.

PitchDark Jasmine Pearls Matcha Tea with Nibs- I was disappointed to see this because I've received it before. That's the first time it's happened. If it was a chocolate I had enjoyed, I probably wouldn't mind but I'm not a fan of matcha.
Value: $8
Chocolat Moderne Caramel Pumpkin Ginger- This is a smooth dark chocolate with a caramel filling flavored with pumpkin and ginger. It's actually quite delicious. The texture is good, the chocolate is marvelous and I love the flavor.
Value: $9
Wild Ophelia Caramelized Crispy Rice- Normally, I don't really go for milk chocolate but I *adore* crispy rice in my chocolate so this made my mouth happy. It's a silky milk chocolate with the crunch that I approve of wholeheartedly. It's not the best milk chocolate I've ever had but it's good.
Value: $3.50

VERDICT: I appreciate the fact that Chococurb hunts down some of the smaller, independent chocolatiers to feature. PitchDark is from Oregon, Chocolat Moderne is from New York and Wild Ophelia is based in Chicago. This is not a box for those looking for a deal. Chococurb is sourcing delicious chocolates but there's no real price cut. If you want to try new, interesting, boutique brands of chocolate and don't mind paying the retail prices to get them, you'll get just that in every box. The hard part is when you get hooked and want more. :)

If you would like to try Chococurb, sign up here on their website. Make sure to use coupon code BITSNBOXES at checkout to get 10% off your box. When you sign up, you'll be asked to fill out your chocolate profile so you'll get more of what you love. If you're gifting, you won't be able to customize the first box but the recipient will be able to on their second box (if you're gifting more than one month).
