Popsugar Must Have January 2017 Review and Coupon

So in the midst of all our holiday uproar, I made sure to snag the Popsugar Must Have subscription deal. The six month one for whatever amazing price that was. Half off or something? I can't even tell you how happy I am with their new Upgrade feature. Especially because I'd used the MSA deal to buy a 3 month subscription as well. Yay for adding on, instead of simultaneous boxes!

I will, however, tell you to get ready for some giveaways because not only did I get the 3-month deal and the 6-month deal, I also got the six month Rue La La deal that also included a Holiday Box. Later, though, I found out they won't stack the Rue La La six months on top of the one I already got so guess what that means?!!? GIVEAWAYS!!! Those should start in March so make sure you're following so you get the alerts (Instagram, Facebook, Bloglovin').
It looks like this January box was "love it or hate it" and I'm going to tell you right away that I loved it. Okay, so it's not the most "Wow!" box but it's pretty practical. I find that sometimes the most practical boxes get the most use, too.  I mean, that blow up swan was adorable, but really.... How many times is the average jane gonna use it?

The Cost: $39.99/month

What You Get: You'll get an exciting monthly box full of fun, full-size products that are hand-selected by the Popsugar editors. Full-size products and premium items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness, and food.

Dean and DeLuca Peppermint Tea- I realize that not everyone loves tea as much as I do. There may be a select few. I drink tea daily. And I'm an American. In Europe, I notice that tea is far more ubiquitous than coffee. And definitely moreso than tap water. Most common drink on the menu? Tea with fresh mint. Which actually means hot water with sprigs of fresh mint in it. Did I order it? You bet I did! Now, Dean and DeLuca might not be fresh but it is delicious. Minty and wonderful. Especially with my clover honey from New Zealand. I'm drinking it right now in fact. Actually, I just finished and need more. Brb.
Value: $11
GoldfadenMD Fresh A Peel Acid Resurfacing Peel- This uses lactic acid and citric acids which are some of the top AHA's typically used in exfoliating products of this type (glycolic acid being the most popular because it's the smallest molecule and the most easily stabilized). What AHA's do (VERY basically) is they cause the top layer of skin cells to detach (or unstick) from your skin. This reveals the new fresh skin cells underneath which leads to a brighter complexion. As you can imagine, this can be irritating for some skin types if used to often (or in too high of a concentration). I love AHA's and I use a glycolic acid version called Alpha Hydrox about three times a week. I can't use it all the time because my skin gets irritated if I do. But the results are absolutely apparent. If you have dry skin like I do, I highly recommend an AHA. If you're over 30, it's a must. Find one you love and use it! If you have oily skin, I believe that a BHA may be more beneficial for you. BHA's tend to be too drying for those of us with already dry skin.
Anyway! I'm going to try this Goldfaden one because I don't think I've ever tried a primarily lactic acid version. I wouldn't buy more of it since the price is so high and my current AHA is so reasonably priced but it will definitely be used.
Value: $85
Daily Concepts Your Hair Wrap Towel- When we got one of these in the Rachel Zoe Box of Style, I was in love! I dye my hair a pinky purple using direct dye (Pravana Orchid). I do it myself because it's so easy (and way cheaper than having a stylist do it) but the downside is that it rubs off onto my pillow. And drying it dyes the towels! Instead, I've been using the Dream Towel to dry my hair AND to wrap it at night. Now I have two! One for drying and one for wearing to bed. The Dream Dry is better for actually drying my hair and this one is better for sleeping in because it's elasticized, it actually stays on my head better. It also buttons tighter. So this was a total win for me, for sure. I don't know why it never occured to me to go out and buy a second one. Although I have to admit I don't do much shopping since I get so many boxes. :D
Value: $18
Sourcebooks, Inc. Happy Notes- Aww, these are cute! Not something I would ever buy or even consider but now that I have them? Totally using them. If you've ever heard of cognitive behavioral therapy, I think these would be a perfect complement. I'm going to split them between my husband and I and then we can suprise ourselves and eachother.
Value: $9

May Designs Calendar- If you could see my desk, you would know that this sort of calendar would never work for me. I'm way to messy. I'd like to say it's a logical mess but that'd be glamourizing it a little too much. It's a lot cleaner than it used to be with all the packing and organizing we've been doing but still...
Value: $25
Manduka eQua Mat Towel in Playa- This is a pretty blue towel that is super quick drying and according to the information card, slip resistant. If I did yoga, I'd probably love that fact. Instead I just love it's compact foldability and it's seriously quick drying fabric. I have a smaller one of these that I take hiking/camping from the 2015 January box. Very useful.
Value: $38
Glade No.3 Coconut and Beach Woods Candle- O.m.g. This smells so good I can hardly stand it. You know those smells when you just want to sniff over and over because it's so heavenly? That's what I think about this candle. I want to hold it up to my nose forever. Good job, Glade! And this is a special extra which means it doesn't even count toward the cost of the box! And apparently means that they were willing to contribute to Popsugars shipping costs.
Value: $5

VERDICT: You know those old sayings you used when you were a kid? Ones like "if you love it so much why don't you marry it?" Well, I love Popsugar that much. Maybe I'm easy to please? I don't know but the brains behind this curation are like mine. I tend to always love my boxes and find them worth it. Especially at the $22 or whatever that I ended up paying for them. Of course, I still thought it was worth it when I was paying $39.95, too. So... :D

If you would like to sign up for Popsugar Must Have, you can do that here. Use code REFER5 to get $5 off your first box. The catch is you'll start with MARCH! It appears that February is sold out already. I contacted them just to make sure but haven't heard back yet. UPDATE: It is confirmed that February is definitely sold out. So you'll start with March. If you want to try and see if you can get a February box, check the box that says something about getting an earlier box if it's available.

What did you think of this box? That GoldfadenMD product is worth double the box itself and is a really great product for just about everybody.

On another note, if you're a subscriber, you're renew date will be Jan 25th for the February box. They're going to try their darndest to get everyone their boxes by the 14th. I think that's pretty great of them, I can't lie! :D

  1. Is there a special site that lists when there's a subscription deal on Rue la la and sites similar to that?

  2. Not that I know of. Just subscription box sites. I signed up for emails from Rue La La and Gilt City since they have them the most often. Plus they both send out coupons pretty regularly, too. Rue La La will even send out notices if something you've previously purchased come back up which is nice. I feel like lately (within the last year) that the deals aren't as good as they have been in the past and they're more infrequent. I'm not sure why that is.
