SweetsGiftBox is a new subscription under TheGiftBox umbrella and it's been loaded with tasty treats so far. This box is different from other treat boxes out there. There isn't a specific focus which means you can find just about anything in each box. I think I prefer that because I've found over the course of my subscription box addiction that dessert boxes tended to include too much shortbread or too many salted caramels, etc. I like variety!
Each box includes an information card telling you what you should find in the box. It's not super informative and I have a minor gripe regarding the lack of brand name included with each product description. I'm not sure why it is but they do it in all their boxes. And maybe I only care because I'm blogging about it. :)
The Cost: $25/month.
What You Get: Each month you will receive 4-5 goodies ranging from gourmet chocolates and cookies to artisan candies and treats.
The Crispery Chocolate Brownie- Okay, so the second I saw this, it meant that this was the best box ever. I *adore* The Crispery. My favorite are still the Originals but I like trying them all and I haven't had this one before. For the record, these are HUUUGE! The Brownie ones are interesting. I can't find them on their website so I'm not exactly sure how they're made but it seems like there is some kind of cookie layered inside (it might be brownie but it's pretty dry so I think it's cookie). Plus of course all that luscious marshmallow goodness.
Theo Peanut Butter Cups- These are shaped like hearts and I already ate them. Theo is a Seattle chocolatier but even so I think the Justin's peanut butter cups are better. You can find both of these at Whole Foods.
Bobo's Bites Apple Pie- Eh. When I think sweets, I don't really think healthy. These were definitely too healthy for me. They tasted like oatmeal and were pretty dry and crumbly. Not my favorite.
Chocolate Covered Potato Chips- I think these are a bulk candy type item since it's bagged and stickered with the SweetsGiftBox logo. I'm not a super fan of milk chocolate so I'm passing these on to my mom. Oooo! I just had an idea. I bet these would make really tasty Peanut Butter and Potato Chip Sandwiches!!! Have you ever done that? Put Lay's Classic Potato Chips in your peanut butter sandwich?? I used to as a kid and loved it!
Lovely Caramel Chews- I've seen these around at grocery stores but never purchased any. I've come close, though. These are very tasty caramels, individually wrapped and the bag has a zipper seal to keep them fresh. I'm trying to be a good girl so I've only eaten a few. Then I hid them....
VERDICT: This is a great collection of sweet treats. There's some sweet, a little savory, something (slightly?) healthy plus some chocolate goodness and caramel. It does seem like things are going to run about $5 each which is steep. I think I'd like to see a sixth item but I am so happy about that Crispy Cake. I wanted to buy from their website but shipping was insane so I didn't. Still, hopefully over the coming months the value will increase with more vendor connections.
If you'd like to subscribe to SweetsGiftBox, you can do that here. Use code BITSANDBOXES and get 50% off your first month! That's totally worth it! I wonder what will be in the February box...
