However, that does not mean that I don't love a good shoe and/or workout gear. I do go to the gym rather regularly. I am currently lifting weights with my husband after months (okay, fine, years) of chugging away on treadmills and ellipticals. I'm loving it! And with my changing shape, I'm also appreciating the glory of beautiful workout clothing.
The Avenue A box sends real Adidas gear for a fraction (and I do mean fraction) of the regular price. Usually, the shoes alone make up the cost of the box and there are still four other goodies whose retail prices make me croak. This is the only way I'll ever justify getting some of these things.
The Cost: $150/quarter
What You Get: Get premium urban running gear, crafted and perfected by women for women on the move. Discover a fresh mix of styles curated quarterly by celebrities, always on-trend and on the pulse of fashion.
Value: $130 (yeah... pricy, right?)
Micro Camo Print Bra- A medium support sports bra made with recycled fibers. Moisture wicking. It's cute. I wouldn't wear it running but I'm a special snowflake and can't wear regular sports bras anyway. No. I have to shell out the big bucks for Freya or Chantelle. Bleh. Apparently I'm "blessed". Yay, genetics. *grumpy face*
Adidas by Stella McCartney Small Gym Bag- THIS IS AMAZING!! I didn't know it but it's all I've ever needed in a bag. Pockets galore! And the bottom is a zip where you can hide your stinky clothing or put your shoes. Inside has a zip plus a bunch of pockets both large and small. It says one is for your laptop and it's a big padded pocket. The outside is a laser cut mesh and it has both handles and a shoulder strap. I think it might become my overnight/plane bag.
Comfort Cover Up- I thought this was a little weird to find in a workout box but it makes sense now that I know what it's for. It's a French terrycloth relaxed fit hoodie for throwing on after your workout. I can appreciate that. I know no one really wants to see how hard I sweat by the wet patches on my back. Or I can just wear it whenever I want because I can't lie... It's quite comfy! It's a hoodie with long, raglan sleeves, it covers the butt and it has nice big pockets. It's open front and has a secret zip pocket.
VERDICT: I'm still getting these boxes even though they're pricy because I really enjoy what I receive and I feel the value is there. Getting new shoes is great! Getting new shoes and a bunch of other stuff is even better. Plus I've really liked the shoes I've received (except the Superstars). The Boston shoes are my favorite but might get booted from first place once I get the right size in these Pure Boost Xpose. I've been really happy with the contents because while I'm not a runner, I do workout and I do like my loungewear. :)
If you would like to sign up for Avenue A, you can do that here. So far there is no such thing as coupons but the deal is definitely there. If you subscribe now, it looks like you'll get this exact version.
I've noticed that true runners haven't been as happy as those who have more of a variety in their workouts. I'm not sure if it's because the shoes aren't good or if it's because the extras aren't something a runner would use. What do you think?
