This subscription allows you to experience the world and it's artisans without leaving home. The themes of each box make it even more fun. This box has a theme of "DINE" and its about having the perfect items for getting ready for dinner.
The Cost: $40/month.
What You Get: Exclusive, handcrafted products from global artisans curated around a monthly theme.
Hand-Painted Pasta Bowl, Tunisia- This is a handpainted serving bowl that measures 9.5" across. I've received a lot of serveware from GlobeIn over the months but this is the first that is in this color scheme and I really like it!
GlobeIn Greeting Card- A small greeting card, blank inside, with a saying from Confucious.
Ukuva iAfrica Spice Grinder, South Africa- You will receive either "Moroccan Harissa" or "Hot Rocks Mild" spice blend. I got the spicy one and my husband was thrilled. He loves spicy. Grinders are my new best friend. You can get all kinds at Trader Joes. I now get grinders for my spices whenever possible. And I save my old grinders and refill them, too.
Lotus Foods Organic Volcano Rice, Indonesia- People around the world eat almost 500 billion tons of rice a year with 90% of it consumed in Asia. I just watched a fascinating documentary called Wild China and it shows how rice is cultivated (by hand!!) there. It's a stunningly gorgeous documentary and I highly recommend it. This rice is from Java, Indonesia harvested from fields of rich volanic soil.
Le Souk Olivique Olive Wood Spoon, Tunisia- You will either receive Olive Wood Spoon or Spork. I'm happy I got the spork! I love this. I think it's my favorite thing. I love the wood grain!
Palm-Leaf Bottle Basket, Mexico- This is supposed to be for wine but unless it's ice wine or Gewürztraminer, it's not gonna fit. I have several of these already. I use them mainly for camping as storage for silverware, straws, napkins or whatever else seems like it'll fit.
VERDICT: One of the best things about this subscription is the background information they give about the real people who make the products included. Instead of just knowing that someone made it, you get photos and stories of workers. There's something wonderful in knowing that you are actually helping someone live well enough to feed themselves and their children.
